I have spent the last few nights looking at videos from The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations' (UUA) General Assembly (usually just called GA). Despite some of the technical problems I find the the web team once again did an excellent job of presenting and including those of us who cannot attend in person so that we can get a taste of our Associations annual gathering of congregations. I have paid especial attention to the items pertaining to the election of our next President. I feel this is an important time in our Association. I admit to feeling a little alienated from Unitarian Universalism lately. Finding and emerging myself into a new religious tradition, a home church that is in search, problems and issues in my congregation and in the association all, at times, have left me wondering where my future is within what has been such an important part of my life.
GA has helped me place some of that into perspective. I watched Rev. Wayne Arnason's workshop entitled "My Minister is a Buddhist" and was inspired and intrigued by someone I deeply respect (having worked with Wayne and Kathleen a number of times) who also identifies as dual faithed. I watched the opening ceremonies and was moved to tears by the music and message celebrating who we are and the sources of our religious tradition. And I watched as both candidates to the Presidency of the UUA answered questions and presented their case.
It probably does not mean much in the long run. I am just a regular lay member with already too much on my plate and an unknown future within Unitarian Universalism and yet I cannot but feel excited when I hear one of candidates speak. I cannot but feel compelled by their vision and boldness and sense of honesty. I have decided to endorse Peter Morales for president of the UUA, and offer him my best wishes on his dedication of leading us to a bright future.

Comments
for those interested in learning about and discussing the two UUA candidates I have created a blog that juxtaposes the candidates' positions, and it starts out with that very candidate debate you watched, only broken down into the intros, indivi. questions, and the closing statements.
So regardless of your current leanings, I'd encourage anyone to visit and chime in. The articles/posts are simply neutral 'reprints' of what they candidates said, but the comments are open.

Please link to it if you want to spurn on that discussion and or bring a poster announcing this forum to your congregation's bulletin board, you can print one on the page: "Tell your congregation".
Thanks

PS: Personally, I'm also for Morales but that's why I invited a co-moderator with different leanings to assure neutrality.
I will share it with my congregation, thank you for stopping by!
